Botox and Facial Esthetics In Jacksonville FL

Remove wrinkles and fine lines with Botox

Botox is one of the most popular aesthetic treatments on the market today. It has been effectively used for more than 21 years with an impressive safety record.

Botox is often used to smooth facial wrinkles along the forehead, around the mouth, between the eyes (in the glabellar region) and around the corners of your eyes (what many people refer to as the crow’s feet).

How Does Botox Work?

Botox is a form of purified protein that comes from the botulinum toxin A. The protein is injected under the skin along your tensed facial muscles helping relax wrinkled areas and smooth out the appearance of your skin.

It can take between two and ten days for Botox to block the nerve transmitters responsible for contracting the facial muscles that are causing your wrinkles.

The effects of Botox typically last between three and four months. The amount of time will depend on several factors, including your lifestyle choices, your metabolic activity and the amount of Botox that is injected into the area. When you begin seeing wrinkles reforming, you will need to make an appointment to have another Botox injection. For best results, your appointment should be scheduled as soon as you begin noticing fine lines and wrinkles forming once again.

Botox has an incredible safety record. It is considered one of the safest aesthetic treatments for reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

A Beautiful Smile, Not Just Beautiful Teeth

Woman with a beautiful smile, but some face lines

Dermal fillers and Botox are often used together as a part of esthetic dentistry. In addition to Botox and dermal fillers, we may suggest other cosmetic procedures to help improve your smile. The tissues around the mouth are just as important as straight white teeth when it comes to creating a beautiful smile.

As a dentist, we are concerned about the perioral areas and will focus on this area when designing your perfect smile. We understand that a beautiful smile is about more than just your teeth which is why we work on the entire area around your mouth to create a smile that you can be proud of!

As people age, the corners of their mouth begin to naturally turn down which can give the appearance of sadness or anger. Botox can be used in the depressor angular oris muscles to help relax those muscles, this helps to raise the corners of your mouth and provides a more natural, relaxed and happier expression.

Botox can also be used to smooth smokers’ wrinkles or water bottle lines (the wrinkles that are located around the lip). These wrinkles occur when the obicularis oris muscles become contracted due to the continued use of the lip pucker required to inhale from a cigarette.

Dentists Are the Oral and Maxillofacial ‘Specialists’

Woman with nice teeth, but needs some facial improvements

Dentists specialize in treating the oral and maxillofacial areas of the face. The Florida State Dental Board allows for Botox to be used as a part of a dental treatment plan.

You may not realize that because of a dentist’s training and developed set of skills, they are more proficient at Botox injections of the maxillofacial and oral regions than other types of healthcare providers. This is because dentists have studied the muscles in the oral cavities and maxillofacial regions of the face.

Our dentists can inject Botox into the oral and maxillofacial areas of the face to improve your smile and facial expressions.

Other Dental Uses for Botox

Botox treatments have also expanded past cosmetic services alone. There has been an emergence of new and innovative uses of Botox in dentistry.

  • Bruxism and TMJ

We are able to use Botox to help people with bruxism and TMJ disorders. It is very effective in helping alleviate the muscle contractions associated with these conditions and provide significant relief to our patients.

  • Migraines

Additionally, Botox has been found to be effective in reducing or completely eliminating facial pains associated with migraines.

  • High Lip Lines

Botox is also used together with dermal filler therapy as an alternative non-surgical procedure for addressing high lip line cases.

  • Orthodontic Therapy

Botox is now also used in orthodontic therapy to help retrain your mouth’s muscles.

If you are experiencing any wrinkles or issues in the head and neck region, dealing with bruxism, TMJ or migraines we can help with Botox injections. Schedule your consultation today!
What our patients are saying about us…

I have been going to Farnham and Farnham for over 20 years and they have been far superior in their care than anyone else I have ever gone to. In recent years the Farnham's son " Mac " joined the practice and you can truly say providing the best care possible is " in his blood ". The whole staff is working together as a wonderful team and I am very excited to know that my dental care is going to be the best available for many years to come. My wife and I have total confidence that providing care for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums is truly a mission for the Farnham practice! Please go there and find out for yourself!!

Since I will be 75 years old this year and my wife and I have moved over 15 times, I have had many dentists. Farnham & Farnham is the best by far. They are friendly, courteous, and professional. Dr. Mac is very thorough and explains all the options in a language I understand. Keep up the good work all of you at Farnham and Farnham.

Recently, both my wife and I completed another cleaning and check up. As always, everyone was professional and friendly! I was referred to Farnham Dentistry over a decade ago and have gone to nobody else since. The quality of care is always excellent! Kathy is my hygienist and she is absolutely awesome- professional, gentle and friendly- always makes me feel at ease. I was so disappointed to learn that your Office Manager, Kelli, is no longer with your company. Kelli was always friendly, extremely helpful and professional. We so much enjoyed her smile and warm greeting with each visit. She will be dearly missed!

Dr. Mack and his team are excellent. I had some dentistry and even a follow-up done at another office, but they didn't take care of my issue. Dr. Mack took the time to get things right and explain everything to me. I will be going back. Highly recommended!

Very caring and gentle. Also, Cathy the hygienist is the best I have run across. I have been going to this dental office since 1997. I highly recommend this dentist. "Mac" does a great job as did his father and mother who started the practice.

Doctor Farnham has done more for me in the 1st 15 minutes I met him than all of the Dentists have done for me in the last 10 years. There is no doubt my mind I will be using his services for the rest of my days.

I was so happy to find this office with such wonderful staff! When we moved to Florida we had difficulty with the larger dental groups and wanted to find a smaller more personal dental practice. We found it with Farnham and I have been so pleased with the customer service and care we have received. It's easy to schedule and appointments have been on time. The hygienists and doctor take their time and explain recommendations, etc. I would 100% recommend this office!

Dr. Mack is an awesome dentist and highly trained in his field. He is passionate about dentistry and truly cares about his patients as they are not just numbers to him. Dr. Mack goes the extra mile with his treatments and I never had a dentist that cares like he does. If you are looking for a great dentist that knows what he is doing, I would giving him a shot at whatever you dental needs are. There are hundreds of dentists in the Jacksonville area and I have been to a lot in my life time and I would recommend Dr. Mack to anyone! Also don't forget about cleanings, the hygienist is just as important as the dentist so you need to find a great one also, I found one at Dr. Macks office ask for Cathy. You don't need all the fluff out there at dental offices, you just need a dentist that cares and knows what they are doing!

My wife and I started with Farnham Dentistry back in 2002. Not only was the dental practice excellent, they were always up-to-date with the latest in equipment and procedures. Cleanliness was paramount and sanitary practices were evident. Office personnel were very cordial and always greeted you with a smile. The dental staff, technicians to dentists, were the best in their field.
